Raising Resilient Teen Daughters

When your teen isn't ready to talk...

It's impossibly hard to watch our daughters struggle, especially when we can see they're hurting, but they insist they're fine.

If your teen has recently experienced a sports injury or any type of painful experience, you may have noticed she's avoiding conversations about it, spending more time on her phone, or seeming disconnected from the things she once loved.

It can be tempting to encourage her to "face her feelings," but what if that distraction is the nervous system's way of creating enough space to cope with something that feels too overwhelming to face all at once.

In this week's blog, we cover why healing isn't about choosing between distraction or emotional processing, it's about learning to move between the two.

I also share three simple ways parents can create moments of connection that feel safe, supportive, and manageable for their teen.

For an injured athlete, the answer is probably a resounding No. She doesn’t like missing practice.Or...

The Happiness Path for Teen Girls

Want to come along for the ride? Okay, maybe it’s the Pink Pony Club effect… But lately I’ve been thinking a LOT about teen girls having a place where they can be themselves, find their people, try new things, laugh a little louder, and discover just how capable they are. And it got me thinking… What if we created that place? 💗 wait. we did that! Something fun.Something meaningful.Something I really wish existed when I was a teenager. I’m not quite ready to reveal exactly where this PATH is...

We can care deeply and take care of ourselves too. When Your Teen Is Hurting, You Feel It Too Recently, I signed my teen up for a program he was genuinely excited about. As the date got closer, though, his excitement shifted to- What if there are too many people? What if I don’t like it? What if I feel uncomfortable? I was trying to listen, make space, and support him without letting his anxiety take over. And then I noticed something. My throat was getting tight, too. I was anxious. It...
