Your Body Is Sending Emails… Are You Reading Them?

I wasn’t checking in with myself. I wasn’t asking what I actually needed.

If you’re raising (or are) a teen girl athlete, you’ve probably seen it…

An injury. Then another. Then just as things are getting back on track, something else.

It’s frustrating. Stressful. And often, we look to the physical side.

A muscle was overworked.
A hit happened.
Something strained or tore.

All true. And all important.

But there’s another piece we don’t talk about enough.

Your body doesn’t operate separately from your mind.
Your nervous system is constantly taking in stress, pressure, beliefs, and expectations and that directly impacts how the body moves, recovers, and heals.

Repeated injuries aren’t just luck of the draw. They can be a signal that the system is under more load than it can sustainably carry.

Not just physically but mentally and emotionally too.

I think about my own early twenties. I was constantly sick, often injured, and pushing hard in every area of my life. Trying to be everything, all at once.

But I wasn’t checking in with myself. I wasn’t asking what I actually needed.

And over time, my body let me know.

This isn’t about blame.
Injury is not your fault.

But it is an invitation to get curious.

  • Am I constantly pushing through fatigue?
  • Do I feel pressure to always perform?
  • Do I struggle to rest without guilt?

These patterns don’t cause injury but they increase vulnerability over time.

What if recovery wasn’t just about getting stronger physically…

…but also about learning to listen, regulate, and support your internal world?

Because when your mind and body start working together, now we're talking!
